Schmitt Scholars exchange Leadership Lessons during Leadership Forum, Oct. 9, 2017

ANNOUNCEMENTS

On Columbus Day, 77 Schmitt Scholars from nine different universities and 15 high schools met in downtown Chicago at Notre Dame's Executive MBA classroom to focus on improving specific leadership skills while connecting to students from different academic disciplines and education levels. Via five different interactive workshops, Scholars discussed how to become more powerful public speakers, ways to network more effectively, the impact of good time management, insights into leading across diversity, what inclusion really means, and how to communicate with greater clarity and meaning. The day ended with an inspiring keynote from leadership guru Gus Gustafson, PhD, from the Center For Values-Driven Leadership at Benedictine University on why effective, values-based leadership matters. Gus challenged Scholars to reflect on how they hope to impact the world, quoting the Dalai Lama who stated, "if you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito".
